Swapping a X201 keyboard by a T42 to have no window keys

Hello

Lately, I've started to dislike window keys. They take some space I'd rather have for Alt and Control, especially on small keyboards.

Is it possible to replace a X201 tablet keyboard by a T42 keyboard?

I'm looking at a 39T0581 39T0550 sold for a "14' T42" on ebay because it looks just the same.

Also, I got a SK-8845 (31P9451, listed as 31P9490 / 02R0430), which has no window keys, but is a bit worn out.

Would this T42 keyboard be a possible replacement? I couldn't find much information about the internals online, except https://web.archive.org/web/20100106235 ... tranav.htm

I'm also thinking about getting a newer version, which has USB 2.0 but window keys, and replace its keyboard by a T42 without window keys.

Charles

No.

The connector on the motherboard is completely different to begin with.

Ok, my bad :-(

Is there any possibility to have no window keys (using another compatible keyboard maybe?)

There are quite a few of us on this forum who'd love to be able to make Windows key disappear from the newer ThinkPads, but it hasn't happened so far...
