X201 Trackpoint doesn't work. Tried everything.

After I replaced the keyboad my trackpoint and trackpoint buttons stoped working.
Tried:
-Installing/uninstalling drivers
-Booting to another OS
-Upgrading BIOS. Even used custom BIOS without whitelist.
-Tried putting my keyboard into another X201. Trackpoint works in another laptop.
-Putting keyboard from working X201. Trackpoint still doesn't work.
Please, help me!

Welcome to the forum!

Did you check if the trackpoint is enabled in BIOS?

Yes, it's enabled. Set to automatic. Sorry, forgot to mention that.

In your mouse properties screen you haven't enabled trackpoint as I see it.

I can't enable it. The checkbox is locked. I'm sure that it's not driver issue, because it doesn't work not just in Windows but also in LiveCDs (used to work there).

So, you would recommend to replace the motherboard? :(

Wait for others to chime in with any thoughts. It is a big step but if you can't do without trackpoint .....

mobo replacement should be your last last option. Try to boot a livecd, gparted or knoppix, ultimate boot cd is a good choice. Or try a new bare install of the os. Easiest would be to use the disk that was in the x201 with working trackpoint, move that over to your x201 without working trackpoint that way you can eliminate driver issues etc.

Is it possible that different fru keyboards for the x201 have different "device id"

Just a guess here, but I'm thinking something with the Logitech Bluetooth mouse and associated software could be a possibility. Have you tried the drivers from Synaptics website?

If you're comfortable with it, try installing some flavor of linux or run it from a livecd.
I'd certainly try that before pulling the motherboard.

I believe that was covered in post five.

Just a caution on what jedisurfer1 said, if you move the disk over from your working
x201, you might run into activation issues with Microsoft; they may
think that you have swapped the motherboard of the machine that
it came from.
