Hello

I love my X201 tablet. I have a core i7, loaded up to the max. So has my wife. We also have "some spares" made from upgrading them :-)

I recently decided to upgrade the screen to a 400 nits version, the LT121ee08000 PVA screen PN 27R2491 13N7297.

First, it was very difficult to get one. I purchased some from ebay listed as new, but got obviously used screens. Then I tried purchasing some more being very careful about the details and possible sign of use, until I could finally get screens that really look totally new, with absolutely no sign of use.

I purchased a luminance meter and took some readings. The unit is not nits or cd/m2 but something else. However, it reads just as bright as a macpro 15 mid 2012, which is 300 nits. It's also very readable outdoors.

I wonder if anyone else with a 400 nits screen could try to compare the brightness to another screen. I wonder if different LT121ee08000 PVA screen PN 27R2491 13N7297 have different brightness, or if they are sold as 400 nits but can only be measured at 300 nits in normal conditions, a bit like how battery life being quoted in very ideal conditions

If you want to be precise, a luminance meter is $12 shipped on ebay. It gives a numerical result in "FC".

Hi charlesd!
I'm very interested on this type of screens.
Would you be so kind to share where are you buying them?

Thanks in advance.

Can this LCD (LT121ee08000) be used on an X201 with the stock LED-backlight cable? It would be nice to have a high quality drop-in display upgrade without having to go through all the work for CCFL.
