X200s / X201s IPS mod

I currently own both an X200s with 1440x900 LCD, and an X200 Tablet with IPS (or AFFS) display.

1 - Will the X200 Tablet IPS display swap into the X200s?
2 - Are there any higher resolution options for an IPS display for my X200s?
3 - Will any LCD swaps also be compatible with an X201s motherboard swap?

Thanks

1 - NO. X200s with WXGA+ LCD have different (thin) LID and normal IPS LCD didn't fit inside.
2 - I don't know any 16:10 12" IPS LCDs more then WXGA (1280×800) acceptable for X20x thinkpads
3 - ???? but why not (what can be incompatible).
I have one picky 200 which have backlight problems with X200s WXGA+ LID and one X201 LID. But other X201 LID working with it fine.

So if I got a 1280x800 X200s/X201s, would the IPS/AFFS LCD from my X200 Tablet fit into that? Or could I replace my 1440x900 lid with one from a 1280x800?

Thanks again

Main concept is placing CCFL IPS/AFFS LCD into X200 CCFL LID.
I don't know is your X200t have CCFL or LED baclit LCD.

All X20x LCD conversion topic is here. Go thru links in that topic and read different approaches of making IPS X20x Thinkpad.

Thanks very much for the links. I am only considering this mod if I can keep an LED backlight. What prevents use of an LED/IPS screen?

LED IPS LCDs from X20x tablets have different pinout so is not drop in replacement. You need adaptor (like in X61 IPS mod) to place between LCD and ribbon cable and change pinout.

OK. Do you know the result of trying with no adapter? For example, is there a garbled image, no backlight, wrong colors, etc.? Also, has damage ever occurred from trying with no adapter?

If you've already opened up those laptops, take note of the exact model # of the LCD panel.
Google for the datasheets.

If you find them, you can confirm if the pinouts are indeed different.

Take special notice of the power and ground pins, because if those two get shorted, the best case scenario is a blown fuse on the laptop's system board, while the worst case scenario is that both LCD and system board get damaged.

The LCDs for the X61 and X61 Tablet have this problem (same connector but incompatible pinouts), and from what FryPpy has mentioned, it's the same for the X200s and X200 Tablet. If you have reason to doubt him, search for the datasheets as I have mentioned earlier.

One should always take extreme caution and have the proper information when swapping or replacing LCDs, especially when they're from different models.

Definitely not doubting him. I havent looked at the datasheets for LCD panels yet, but I have looked at the pinouts of the motherboards. I havent made note of every difference yet, but they are extremely similar. Similar enough at a quick glance that I wouldnt be surprised if the LCD was at least partially functional. At some point I need to sit down and catalog every difference, then proceed from there.
