X201 and AFFS Mod

#1 Post by PandorasThinkpad » Sun May 03, 2015 10:51 pm

Hi there!

I have just a simple or a little bit less simple question.....

did anyone here an successful AFFS mod on the X201?

I've checked out ebay and there i found this.... http://www.ebay.de/itm/New-Orig-HYDIS-I ... 1514719023

So with the display, the cable and the inverter card it should be possible to do this mod on an X201....or am i totally wrong?

I ask because in this offer you will find this hint.....
All of IBM Lenovo thinkpad X200 X201 X200S CCFL serise laptop,
(This lcd will not fit X200 X201 X200S LED-backlit or WXGA+ serise laptop)
So will this work, has anyone did this mod until now, will this offered kit fit on an X201?

Is the used cable a special one or is it just the one used in the CFFL models, the same question on the inverter, special one or used in regular models....so the question again, will this fit on an X201?

Thanks for any hints and help.

Kindly,

PanDoRA

I did that mod, works like a charm!

Just make sure you get a X200 CCFL cable and the corresponding inverter, (and if your X201 is a WXGA+ model you'll need a new bezel and new LCD cover)

I personally find the price of that set expensive, I got a cheaper (albeit used) panel out of this seller: click here!

You're right, the matte ones were always pricier and difficult to get. So go grab that one! :D

+1 - this is simple mod. I have got used HV121WX4-120 and complete X200 CCFL lid (because my X201 have LED backlit). Reassembled lid (changed only LCD, ribbon cable and inverter remains from X200) and placed that AFFS lid ontop of the X201. Working like a charm.

Thanx!

Today i bought me an X200 with T9550, this X200 is CCFL, so i will be able to use the whole lid....now i just have to find an not so expensive HV121WX4-120, if i will be lucky and get one i will change from now, WXGA+ with 1440x900 to WXGA with 1280x800 AFFS.

Kindly regards,

Found it out by myself,....what you will need is a thin and sharp knife or so....you have to cut around the whole Display and be very careful not to touch the display itself, the other part you may scratch as much as you want ;-) So did i....and as a result i have a well and bright AFFS panel....which i had to built in the X201 (change it with the one with the many bright spots) which was again a really hard work...antenna, cable, webcam, thinklight, to hold all this in position and plug the panel in.....this was the last time i did such a thing/ work, definately!
