close lid power switch location

Does anyone know where the switch is that triggers hibernate / standby when you close the lid on the X201? Mine is starting to act up... Close the lid and lights flicker and go off. Or stay on. And I just moved my lid / display with my computer running and it hibernated... Anyway, if anyone knows about this switch I'd love to learn about it! Thanks.

Hi!

On the X201 here Image is the sensor/ switch for sleep mode or suspend mode in the lid, the corresponding magnet is stucking on the opposite side in the base of the X201.

Yes, on newer laptops it's a magnet in the lid that actuates a sensor in the base, or vice versa.

As for me, I usually just turn off all the standby/hibernate features when the lid is closed. The Fn key combos are good enough for me to get the machine to go into a sleep state...

On the X220, the magnet is in the base and switch in the lid.

For the X220 take a look at this....http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=117531

And once again, the switch/ sensor for sleep mode/ suspend mode/ hibernation mode.....when closing lid....at the X201 is where i have made the red circle...in the base you will find the magnet which is activating the sensor/ the switch...
