Move X201 from W7 32-bit to 64-bit

#1 Post by Billaboard » Tue Sep 08, 2015 2:26 pm

I'm trying to change my X201 from 32 to 64-bit W7.

Am I right to assume that the recovery partition will contain only the 32-bit files?

When I go tp the Microsoft download site and enter a key to download the iso, it tells me that the key is for the factory installed version and not applicable.

Is the only option to get the Lenovo recovery dvd ordered?

PS Search here doesn't seem to be working.

32-bit recovery disks will install a 32-bit recovery partition, 64-bit installs 64-bit recovery.
Micro$haft does not have Lenovo recovery iso's, and neither has Lenovo.
You can use any Lenovo W7 64-bit recovery disks to install on your X201, provided it has Slic2.1 in its BIOS.
Check that with this: https://techdoors.wordpress.com/2012/09 ... 7-oem-way/
If your X201 already came with a W7 COA, you're good to go.
