X200 graphic problems
Hello I bought an x200 from an reseller. I installed win 7.
Now I have graphic errors some big pixels. I think it's not the display. Can it be a driver problem or is the video card about to die?

Welcome to the forum.
For pictures, the best way is to upload the picture(s) to the likes of imgur, shutterfly, tinypic etc.
Then put the link(s) to the picture(s) in your post.
Be also advised to read the Forum Rules of the Road: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=14339
We'd need to see a picture to be able to tell you more, as your description is a bit difficult to understand.
Drivers can be found here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/product ... nkpad-x200

Re: X200 graphic problems
Looks to me like an LCD problem, where the horizontal row drivers have come unstuck.
If you have an external CD/DVD, boot from a Live-Linux CD and see if the problem persists.
If yes, you'll need a new screen.

Re: X200 graphic problems
It might also be:
1. RAM issue --> the GMA X4500MHD uses system RAM so replacing the RAM might fix the issue.
2. Software issue --> Try any Linux Live CD to see if the problem occurs there or not. It it does, it's possibly a hardware issue (RAM or otherwise)
If the problem does not occur, then use a program like Driver Sweeper to remove the existing video drivers then use the drivers from Lenovo's website. If you're already using Lenovo's drivers try the drivers from Intel's website.

Re: X200 graphic problems
i tried the lenovo and intel drivers. -> no changes
Upgrade from win 7 to win 10 -> No changes
I think the fault depends on temperature of the notebook. is it cold -> less grafic errors
is it warm / hot -> a lot of errors.
no i try to warm it up with the display not in tablet position to see if its an display or video card issue

Have you tried cleaning the heatsink and applying new thermal paste?

Re: X200 graphic problems
No I haven't.
I just bought it so I'm in contact with the seller.
But I want to know what is the problem.
Today I started a Memmoy test.
The system reboots and starts the test.

And it's running without errors. So maybe no hardware problem?

Re: X200 graphic problems
^ We still can't discount the possibility of a hardware issue, that's why we need to exhaust all other possibilities by changing the drivers (didn't work), run non-Windows OS (you haven't tried it yet).
The RAM test might not even catch the error since it can't test the part of the memory that's shared with the built-in graphics.
Though this is intriguing:

I've encountered a temperature-related issue with a desktop LCD monitor before, but its symptoms were very different from yours-- the only thing common was that they ran fine when cold.I think the fault depends on temperature of the notebook. is it cold -> less grafic errors
is it warm / hot -> a lot of errors.

Re: X200 graphic problems
Looking at the first and second pictures again, it might be a driver-issue.
Did you put in High-German or Swiss-German drivers, resp. select High-German or Swiss-German keyboard?
If you have a US keyboard, you could try and uninstall the keyboard-drivers, then reboot in Windows.

Re: X200 graphic problems
It could be this: https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/documents/ht001223 so see if VT-d is enabled in BIOS and try turning it off.
if that doesn't work I would boot from a Linux live USB stick and see if problem occurs there, if no then you rule out a hardware issue and it's a software/driver issue.
If you have two RAM modules try with just one, try each in turn. Run memtest86 for a full pass / a couple of hours. (Memtest86+ from memtest.org).

Re: X200 graphic problems
Right now it runs without problem, i removed the Video card driver and use the Windows Default driver.
I tried to disable the VT in Bios -> no success.
The computer has a total of 3GB Ram. I expect 1 GB and 2 GB and this will be the cause of the problem.
Thank you all for support.
