WWAN FOR X200S

#1 Post by gelepvictor » Thu Feb 04, 2016 7:33 am

I have a Thinkpad X200s without a wwan card in it. i just received a sierra wireless mc8775, after i instaled it i got the messege:
~ERROR 1804: Unauthorized WAN card is plugged in. Power off and remove the wan card~
Can someone help me with a new version of bios, or something like that? Ive read some forums...i didnt understand what can be done.
Thanks

Remove that WWAN card.
If it has not been done yet, first update and install the original 3.22 BIOS from Lenovo.
Then D/L and install this modded 3.22 BIOS with the Whitelist removed: https://www.sendspace.com/file/z819cr
After that, you can install that WWAN.

PS: X200 and X200s use the same BIOS.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

WIFI hotspot is a lot more versatile and efficient than installing a simcard to a laptop IMO.

I recently purchased a $80 USD Chinese phone with a 8 core CPU and it was faster and more reliable than fitting a sim to my X series laptops. If I am travelling I can always use the phone directly and data usage will be lower only to the phone.

Maybe the latest laptops have fast WWAN hardware but if you are installing a WWAN to hardware older than 5 years you will not get the same performance.
Active --- Love the X series
X301 SU9400 IDA Mod - W 7 - Main Driver
X201 540M - W 10 - Backup Driver
X61 T7500 - W 7 - Nostalgia

Spares
X301, T43's, T42

Rogue daily driver - Samsung RV511 15.6 " Screen - W 7

Sierra Wireless MC8775 is the wwan card - under windows its name is HP hs23000 HSDPA Broadband Wireless Module... this is like a funeral...

As far as i know you will only need this....http://www.mediafire.com/download/ngq41 ... atcher.zip

So deinstall an drivers now and install this 3G Watcher...and everything should work....

Some more input....http://thinkwiki.de/Sierra_MC8775_Upgrade_auf_7,2_MBit
