X200 keyboard dead after instaling WWAN module

#1 Post by sponka » Mon Feb 22, 2016 8:10 pm

Hi there,

I had spare F3607gw module and decided to put it into X200. Bad decision as after reboot and driver install I noticed some keys are not working. I thought it's windows problem and rebooted only to find out I can't enter bios -- ThinkVantage key sometimes work, but mostly not and even if I get into menu, F1, F2, F12 and ThinkLight are not working ... If I rollback what hapened it's probably SIM card -- I think I didn't insert it deep enough + I didn't put battey back, so maybe some pins were shorted.

Tested with spare T500 keyboard and it works, unfortunatelly it's not compatible with original keyboard :/

I guess this is enough evidence to conclude I fried keyboard. Is there anything I can try besides looking for replacement?

Thanks,
b.

I had a similar case to you. For some reason my down or up cursor key doesnt work. This was on a very fresh looking keyboard on an ex lease unit (granted this was a 410). I did some MINOR work on the unit and then more keys didnt work. I have another 410 so I swapped kbds. The other one worked.

I come to the conclusion that the kbd just failed and contined to fail. Will need another one but they look like they are $50+ here which doesnt make much sense since the whole laptop minus hdd only cost me $49!

I think X200 kbds are much cheaper though.
