This is so cool... Finally a proper screen resolution for a X230!

Maybe you can use the X240 display-cable if you can find the right socket for the mainboard and fit it to your adapter.
using an X220 (i3->i5->i7, hopefully soon FHD IPS), an X41 (SSD via (m)sata-Mod, IPS, ~100Wh custom battery);
playing with an T430u(buntu), storing a T22, X41t, T42, R61, T61p;
and taking care of the T420s (FHD IPS) of my wife

That's exactly what I did. Good cables are either expensive or rare, cheap cables are low quality.

Been MIA for a bit, just got caught up. Very glad to see this has made very serious progress.

So as of right now what issues remain that are preventing the final and full release of your board and/or kit?

Will it available for worldwide shipment?
Any ETA for x220 version?

I'm almost on the home straight. The kit is compatible with X220 and X230 (tablets are not supported) and will be available for worldwide shipping.

I aim for $50 + shipping. Looks like it's time to create another 'interest in upgrade your thinkpad' thread :) Let me just finish with polishing the firmware.

So uh, is it conceivable this PCB would drive more than the one screen you're using for the mod? Like, could we establish entire class of screens of many kinds this would drive? Reason I'm asking is perhaps we could play a bit more with this: not only applying FHD displays of the same size, but also the 13'' from Dell XPS (like in the (in)famous x320 of nb51) and similar...
T14amdR7-4750U/32GB/500gb.ssd/debian_testing (main driver)
X320/i7-2620M/8GB/256gb.ssd/FHD13.3''IPS/debian_testing (ex-main driver)
T30Pentium-M 4 1.8Ghz 512MB RAM - under restoration
X230/i5/8GB/500gb.hdd+256gb.m2ssd/IPS/debian_stable+win7
755CE, 486DX, approx 28MB RAM (Win95 JP)

Any screen with 30-pin eDP interface should work.

So far the firmware seems to work good and I'm going to prepare 3 kits for sale in Russia. Meanwhile, a batch of eDP cables is on its way from China and when it arrives, I'll start selling internationally. As mentioned, the price is $50 + shipping (the kit includes the adapter board with cables). Also, you'll have to find and buy a suitable screen yourself.

Do you have recommendations on where to find/buy screens? And perhaps any additional recommendations for screens past those which you've already mentioned so far?

I think I am interested in purchasing either 2 or 3 kits.

Regarding the modified Windows drivers which fix the color depth issue on the X220, apparently they are here -- can anyone confirm that they work? They just seem like standard Intel driver download links, not links to a modified driver as suggested here, so I have to admit I'm a little confused.

As usual, you can buy on ebay/aliexpress. Maybe it's worth to look for reliable sellers in T420s/T430s thread.

I can't confirm anything about X220 since that half-dead mobo that I was using for testing lost DisplayPort functionality. Replacing the PCH would be an interesting challenge. I also found modified drivers for HD2000/HD3000 here as well as for HD4000. I think I could try install the latter one and see if it brings any improvement.

Just installed Ivydrive 3.0. No color improvements. However, now we could try ask the developer to do fix that.

Another questions. What display port that you sacrificed in the dock for this mod?

Is it usable for display higher than fhd? Like for 2560/1440?

And still eagerly waiting

Dock DP1. The adapter uses 2 eDP lanes and 1440p requires 4 lanes, so it doesn't support 1440p displays.

Thanks for explanation. still curious how the 51nb forum successfully manage the 2k display work in x220/x230.

Also will this http://www.panelook.com/LQ133M1JW02_SHA ... 24089.html work too in this mod ?

They just steal 4 lanes and use 40-pin connector. I won't do that unless there's high demand.
LQ133M1JW02 would work fine.

Fantastic work you've done here! I'll have to get myself an X220 when these go on sale (and a kit, needless to say!). :)

Here's the kit:

First 3 kits are tested and packed!

The cables are still on their way from China. Meanwhile I'm assembling and testing new boards.

I also uploaded a video that shows how brightness control works with my mod.
