Actually, I recently got a bachelor in software engineering and career almost hasn't touched me yet. Electronics is just a hobby thing

Awesome...very cool.
Let me ask you, if there is continued demand for these kits...will you keep producing them? My concern is if I want to buy one in say 6 months time.... that it won't be available or made anymore.

Is there a way to perform this mod without it affecting the display port on the docking station but rather the internal display port instead? I'm asking because I'm using the laptop docked most of the time on my desk with an external 27" 4k display connected via display port to the docking station. I've never really used the display port on the left side of the laptop, though.

Pretty sure the the circuit board is directly soldered to the back side of the docking port connector, don't think its possible to change without redesigning the whole mod.

Thanks. Too bad, though, but understandable.

If you connect only one monitor to docking station, you'll be fine.

Oh? Interesting, so I can use either the Display or the VGA port on the docking station? I have the Ultrabase not the Mini Dock if that makes a difference.

I guess so. One of first users reported that this mod works fine with Ultrabase, but he didn't connect anything into dock DisplayPort. Using Mini Dock requires some extra additional measures (putting the tape inside the docking connector

).

I'd take a kit, too, since I don't seem to get anywhere with my own wiring experiments...
I am in Moscow once in a while, every few months, and would come by to get the kit personally then

Yes:
nitrocaster wrote:Easa wrote:after that, the new screen fits in the place of the old, or is there some additional mod?
Some additional work is required. See preliminary manual:

Easa wrote:And when all of this is done, the new panel works exactly like the old one, or is there a need for some special driver etc?
True for Linux users, almost true for Windows users. You'll need to use a special utility to fix banding artifacts.

How high is the risk to destroy the Mainboard or the Adapter if i don't have much experience in soldering? I've soldered a few times times broken cables and such stuff, no small elektrical components. Now i wonder if i should search somebody who could do it for me or if i could do it by myself with a Youtube tutorial and a little bit exercising.

One can only guess what can go wrong. Some people are lucky enough to fry their motherboard by just removing it from the case. So, you just need to be careful and follow the instructions.

Ty. Nice work.
Is it right, that I can bridge the both aux power pads to have more space to solder the wire?
And any hints how to cut out the space on the lid? I have a Dremel. Or would a sharp heavy knife do the same job?
