WWAN card for X201 [Modded BIOS]?

Wondering what's the fastest/most stable WWAN card users have had working with the X201?

I have been making a shortlist - a bit too many options. Must have 900/1900/2100 Mhz support.

I understand being a older machine, old threads recommend default cards Gobi 2000 / F3507g. But realising the machine is still going strong years later, is a more modern card a better bet? I saw a recommendation for a MC8355 & MC7700 [http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=111405], but this was for the X230.

Qualcomm Gobi 2000 [800, 850, 900, 1900 & 2100MHz]
Ericsson F3607gw [900/1900/2100]
Sierra MC8355 (Gobi 3000) [900/1900/2100/850]
Gobi 4000
Ericsson H5321gw (Half-sized) [900/1900/2100/850]
Ericsson F3507g (doesn't have 900Mhz Band)
Ericsson F5521gw (Pauses for 1-2 minutes at POST)

Are you using factory bios or a modified bios? "(whitelisted) X201" is not clear.

Have you thought about using a mobile with WIFI hotspot. When I am in Aus I use a cheap Chinese phone with a Vodafone sim and I get good coverage and speeds.
IMO WWAN cards especially in older laptops are a bit old school.

Whoops - fixed :)

My OP is not inviting a debate on the use of a WWAN card over other alternatives, so, sorry to be blunt, but your post is unhelpful/off-topic.

(I have not used a WWAN card in a laptop and know diddly-squat about the various wireless technologies.)

"3G vs. 4G vs. 5G Mobile Networking Explained" by Bradley Mitchell defines the many acroynms littering this topic:
http://compnetworking.about.com/od/cell ... lained.htm

Oversimplified one-word summary, "4G". You want a 4G card in 'mini pci-e' or 'half sized mini pci-e' format.

If you'll be using this from one location, figure out the underlying 'wireless technology' of your wireless service and pick a compatible card.

F3507g seems to be GPRS 900MHz capable:

Ahh yes it is! Sorry for any confusion, but I need 900Mhz 3G (UMTS).
