X220 (via KVM switch) is shoving the monitor's display to the left - how to fix?

I'm trying to work with a X220 with Win 7 - through a kvm switch - attached to a Dell 1704FPVs monitor. Problem is the X220 is shoving the monitor's display to the left - leaving black space to the right and shoving the start button off the screen (see picture).

Image

(sorry, should be "blank black space" not "bland black space" in the picture)
  • Pressing the monitor's auto adjust button sets the display back where it should be, but after it finishes the display is shoved back to the left.
  • Positioning the display manually using the monitor's buttons doesn't fully correct this (leaves the start button off the screen).
  • Weirdly enough when the X220 uses the WRONG resolution (one that warps the screen) it DOESN'T shove the display to the left.
should add -
  • Using the X220 directly with the monitor works fine (so it's not the monitor or cable messing up).
  • A T440s with Win 7 connected to the kvm works fine (so it's not the kvm messing up, and I guess I can't blame it on Win 7 either).
Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Try changing the refresh rate to 60Hz.

it's already on 60Hz.

I suspect that somewhere in the registry there's a key offsetting the display. Anyone have a good guess which key that would be?
