Replace base x220- how to get coa label/touch button adhesive?

#1 Post by benny3411 » Wed Nov 23, 2016 11:32 pm

I replaced the base on my x220 today. Everything actually went pretty smooth. I replaced the lcd cover as well, and even installed a new IPS screen. I got a new lenovo battery, keyboard, palmrest an touch button. It looks close to new now. I still have yet to put it all back together for good. Everything was pretty easy, replacing the lcd cover was tricky at times, removing and installing the antenna's and re routing wires. I really like the IPS screen, I definitely see an improvement over old. The touch button was a bit tricky as well. When I took off the old touch button it was hard to remove the touch device from the button, I eventually just worked the two apart. I have a question though, because the adhesive on my touch device was not all there, I cleaned what was left off. Im wondering on what I could use as such an adhesive to put the touch device back together with the new touch button? Any info would be greatly appreciate.

I was also wondering if it is possible to get new coa labels that go underneath the battery? I tried taking the one off my old base but of course I buggered it up pretty good.

Ended up using shoe goop. I figured the glue had to be flexible when dry, I would assume caulk could work as well. I just applied a very thin layer and quickly stuck the device to the button, pressed firmly all over and let dry. My button though is lower on the right side than the left, not sure why, I tried making adjustments. Everything still works fine though.

COA labels are controlled items (and useless unless you have a particular reason to want one) but if you aren't good at remembering software keys you could type yours, print on a label, then paste that in the battery compartment for reference.

You can read your existing key with a variety of free utilities. This is an old standard:
