Bought my first X220

#1 Post by thinkpadgeek91 » Thu Mar 30, 2017 11:17 am

I finally bought a X series Thinkpad. This machine is nice and the size is what I wanted for when I need a "real" computer and my iPad Pro can't handle what I'm working on which is a lot. The iPad has it's place but I decided on buying an ultrabook and it came down to a Thinkpad or nothing. Sadly the machine I bought works fine except for a large chunk out of the palm rest and then found the LEDs in the display and Thinklight and camera don't work so I requested a replacement from the seller. Other than that this is exactly what I wanted in an ultraportale and am happy with the size and performance.

The great thing about the x220 is how easly it is to repair it, take it appart and put it back together. Mostly every piece is available for pretty cheap. I have one too, its always served its usual life 4 or 5 times over, i now look past iys imperfections. I do reccomend an ips screen upgrade, and using proper wcrew drivers when working on it.

Took it part to clean it and found the connector that controls the camera/Thinklight/LEDs not seated all the way. I'm glad because I did not want to return this one.
