Successing Lenovo X200s for X220. Few questions.

#1 Post by mp107 » Fri Apr 14, 2017 5:17 am

Welcome,
I consider replacing Lenovo X200s with Lenovo X220.
Now, as I got used to ThinkPad's great keyboard, solidity and TrackPoint feature it's harder to find the worthy successor.
The X220 seems to be a good choice although I have few questions before buying.
1. What is the X220's battery lifetime in comparison with X200s'?
I got used to X200s' long battery time and would like to not lose much due to higher TDP of X220's CPU.
2. Does the X220's soundcard supports 192kHz input sampling?
I would like to use it in my hobby (the same question had when was buying X200s some time ago - http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=115811). Unfortunately, according to my tests the X200s does not support it on its own.
Based on my search, it looks like the X220 uses Conexant 20672 which does not support it but I would like to make sure.
Newer models seem to support that feature but I get whitelist-locked BIOS instead.

Download the X220 Userguide: http://www.lenovo.com/shop/americas/con ... _ug_en.pdf
Check pages 77 and 78.
No mention of input at 192KHz though.

your computer or to the microphone jack of the ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 or the ThinkPad Mini
Dock Plus Series 3.
Note: The combo audio jack does not support a conventional microphone
