x230 sleep problems (only with battery attached)

#1 Post by srirams » Mon Apr 24, 2017 11:36 pm

I have a x230 that has recently developed sleep problems, or, more accurately, problems resuming from sleep. Frequently I have to hold down the power button because it won't resume from sleep (the power light flashes, no flash on the fingerprint reader, battery will get drained).

Through much trail and error I have determined that this only happens with the battery attached. If I remove the battery, the it will sleep and wake with no issues.

Anybody have any experience with this?

My T520 sometimes will resume sleep after waking while raising the lid until I press the power button.

Will it still happen if you sleep it without closing the lid and try to resume?

Yes. It's very random, and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do to reliable reproduce it. It just froze without the battery, so that's not the root cause, but I can say that having the battery increases the chance that it will freeze greatly.

This seems to be the same problem and no solution. Maybe the motherboard is going bad as it used to be rock solid...
