The slimmest/lightest AC adapter for X220?

#1 Post by paulwece » Thu Jul 20, 2017 10:36 am

I got a refurbished X220 but it came with a full sized AC adapter. It's bigger than adapter I had previously for my 15 inch Lenovo.

Since the point of buying a X220 is portability, I wonder what's the smallest AC adapter I can get for it. I've seen some "slim" AC adapters for Yoga but those came with USB-like plugs...

thanks

This would be the "standard" 20V/65W charger for an X220: http://www.ebay.com/itm/272734915837

yeah, that's what I have. I wonder if there are slimmer adapters than that.

X220 uses 35W TDP processors. You will need a 65W adapter no matter what, can't go smaller.

Possibly the new models use a slimmer adapter that is still 65W with the rectangle tip, if you buy a rectangle-to-barrel tip adapter I think you can use a slim 65W adapter with the X220, so long as such a thing exists and it is 20V!

You could also look into different manufacturers.

I have a 19v 65w AC adapter from an Asus laptop that is nice and compact. The power jack is different but you could either cut it off and replace, or use an adapter to convert it.

The stock ThinkPad 65w is quite compact itself though.

41R4493 would be the slim combo travel adapter. It's slimmer and more versatile than the regular adapter, but not lighter.

Smaller but not necessarily slimmer is the Finsix DART (65w).
