Best wifi card for whitelisted Thinkpad.

#1 Post by 28CarsLater » Sun Aug 27, 2017 6:03 pm

I have two X300s running the Middleton BIOS, I was curious to get an opinion on the best wifi cards (N and above) for a smaller machine such as these. I am running a N router with DD-WRT but may upgrade to 802.11ac when I move. Both X300s are running what they shipped with, which I believe is the generic Intel ABGN card included in all *61/400/500s of the period.

Thanks.

Atheros AR9380 is in my experience the best card any ThinkPad from this era will take. No AC there, but a dead stable "N" on both bands. OOTB support on most operating systems that I an think of...unless you're going back into pre-XP varieties.
