Suggestion from where to get a LP125WH2-SLT1 screen
Suggestion from where to get a LP125WH2-SLT1 screen
I have LP125WH2-SLB3 and it has a little (to no ghosting). It is very much acceptable. But my x220 fell from my hands last month, the screen bumped against the corner of the table and since then it had developed a blue spot. Nothing bad happened to the laptop, still perfectly usable, even the screen, it is relatively okay, the spot is only visible on black backgrounds.
I bought/returned a couple of screens from ebay, they sell them as LP125WH2-SLT1, but they sent me crap compatible screens. Can you please suggest me an ebay or any other provider online (preferably in Europe).

Re: Suggestion from where to get a LP125WH2-SLT1 screen
Since you have to replace your LCD anyway, why don't you put in an FHD screen?
Preferably LP125WF2-SLB4 from eBayer win0win.
Together with nitrocaster's FHD-mod your machine will be unbeatable!

Well, it's not like you can put in and use a FHD screen without the mod... And the mod is not a trivial thing. Far less trivial than just replacing a screen in these systems.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2017 8:29 amSince you have to replace your LCD anyway, why don't you put in an FHD screen?

Re: Suggestion from where to get a LP125WH2-SLT1 screen
Could be an option also, but I feel like an FHD screen for a 12.5 laptop is quite an overkill. I use tmux with many sub-terminals open most of the time on my x220 and I'm quite okay with the resolution. Also the FHD mod costs more than getting a replacement screen+it is not trivial (I have some soldering experience though).RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2017 8:29 amSince you have to replace your LCD anyway, why don't you put in an FHD screen?

I would only consider such a mod if I can put easily a 13.3 FHD screen (especially finding a ready made bezel, as I don't want to cut mine, I'm sure I'll destroy it).
Re: Suggestion from where to get a LP125WH2-SLT1 screen
I contacted win0win on ebay for a LP125WH2-SLT1, he confirmed the availability of the exact LP125WH2-SLT1 screen. I have placed my order, once arrived I'll report here if it is really a LP125WH2-SLT1 or not!
Re: Suggestion from where to get a LP125WH2-SLT1 screen
Ok, screen arrived and mounted on my x230 this time. My unit has some problems
1) It has a visible white spot close to the bottom right edge of the screen
2) 3 dead pixels, yay!
The matte finish of the LP125WH2-SLT1 is more visible than the LP125WH2-SLB3. The LP125WH2-SLT1 has no ghosting at all, while the LP125WH2-SLB3 has little to no ghosting.

Re: Suggestion from where to get a LP125WH2-SLT1 screen
Here are my final findings about the LP125WH2-SLT1 that I got from win0win, especially after comparing it side by side with the LP125WH2-SLB3.
The LP125WH2-SLT1 that I have has the image retention problem, it is really annoying and worst than the LP125WH2-SLB3 image retention. It has better color reproduction than the LP125WH2-SLB3, but LP125WH2-SLB3 is more frienldy to my eyes, specially the white color, it is more clear, white on the LP125WH2-SLT1 feels dirty (maybe because of the crappy matte finish)
Lowering the brightness of LP125WH2-SLT1 is where the more serious problem appears. I can easily perceive strips of pixels moving around, it is f****ing frustrating and it gives me headaches and eyestrain after 5 minutes. Tried to increase PWM frequency, but the problem persists...
To resume, I'm going to throw this piece of crap (shipping it back will probably cost more half its price). I will put back my old TN B125XW01 panel, as I will not put back my half broken LP125WH2-SLB3, and I don't want to throw more money on getting a new IPS one, with a 99% probability that it will have dead pixels/white spots/image retention, etc... It is the third bad IPS panel that I get, only luck I had with the LP125WH2-SLB3 which I broke (has visible image retention anyway).

Re: Suggestion from where to get a LP125WH2-SLT1 screen
Strange, I put a LP125WH2-SLT1 in my X220 and it's absolutely perfect.
And another, also LP125WH2-SLT1, in my X230, again no problems.
When nitrocaster's mod became available, I replaced that LP125WH2-SLT1 with an IPS FHD LP125WF2-SLB4, again no problems.
Which means that I have a perfect LP125WH2-SLT1 lying around, doing nothing at the moment.
If you pay for my flight over, I'll personally donate that screen to you!
FYI: both my -SLT1 screens were used and came from the Lenovo S230U Twist (without touch).

That will be really awesome, I'm really desperate in getting a good screen, already wasted my money for 3 different screens. I can pay as much as you want to get your -SLT1, if you say it is perfect, then it must be! pm sent.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2017 6:31 amWhich means that I have a perfect LP125WH2-SLT1 lying around, doing nothing at the moment.

Question... did you confirm you received an SLT1? The label on the panel could have been wrong/fake. Download Everest Home Edition (free), and it'll tell you the exact model of the panel.alisan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2017 2:50 amHere are my final findings about the LP125WH2-SLT1 that I got from win0win, especially after comparing it side by side with the LP125WH2-SLB3.

I ordered an SLT1 from Kevin trade shop on AliExpress and received it in the mail yesterday. The label on the panel indicated it was an SLT1, but when I pulled up the panel info in Everest, it showed me the following:
I'm not too disappointed, but there is one stuck/dead pixel in the top left corner. The seller told me to send it back for an exchange, but I might just ask to be reimbursed for the issues.
Re: Suggestion from where to get a LP125WH2-SLT1 screen
Both the label on the panel and edid information indicate that my panel is SLT1, however I'm pretty sure that it is not, actually it is a fake label and a fake edid, I have seen SLT1 panels already around, way better than the one I have, in all aspects. So my panel is more fake than yours!
This has been pretty much my experience with almost all IPS panels that I got, (see viewtopic.php?f=58&t=124821).

laptopscreen.com got them back in stock today. I signed up for the notification 2 months back, and they finally got more today.alisan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2017 3:41 amBoth the label on the panel and edid information indicate that my panel is SLT1, however I'm pretty sure that it is not, actually it is a fake label and a fake edid, I have seen SLT1 panels already around, way better than the one I have, in all aspects. Re: Suggestion from where to get a LP125WH2-SLT1 screen
I have a real SLT1 to sell.( Edid says its slt1 made in 2012, its 190 grams heavy and its thinner and little bit brighter than SLB3 which i had before). Sticker on the back says it is SLB3.
Chinnese selllers changed stickers all the time, but now i read that they also changed edid on someone's screen.
I think how you can be sure what you got is to check it's weight and height. haha
I am waiting for nitro's board and already have SLB4 so i will not need it.
