X200 CCFL to X201 LED

#1 Post by fleamourian » Thu Nov 30, 2017 9:30 am

Any gotchas? Are the ribbon cables the same pin out? I have a working ThinkLight & LED board but panel shows no sign of life even though eBay seller sold as tested reclaimation.

Reading the HMM (parts list) for X200 and X201 will give you the answer.

It would appear FRU is king, tried two screens but something to be ordered after disassembly, or compare manuals on phone & tablet. Unless I've blown a fuse?

I'm seeing a very faded ThinkPad logo with X200 screen but obviously not backlit. I have no soldering experience, but maybe piggybacking a fuse is possible? Of course, I don't see any capacitors?

From what I understand, CCFL backlight require an invertor, whereas LED does not, which would explain the dim logo you are seeing.

When people were trying to mod their X201 (all were LED, I believe) with the IPS CCFL screens from an X200t, they needed the CCFL cable from an X200.
