Installing Factory Image on X220

#1 Post by Shayan » Fri Dec 22, 2017 5:12 pm

Hi everyone,
I have the stock images for Windows 7 and the Recovery for my X220 but the thing is the X220 doesn't have a DVD drive. I tried Rufus to flash the iso's but it gives an error that they can't be flashed to the USB.
Any ideas?

I can think of two options:

1) Obtain an Ultrabase Series 3 https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/migr-76765 Be sure it includes a DVD drive in the Ultrabay. They can be had for about $30 on eBay.
2) Try using a portable (external) DVD drive connected via USB

Either case would need the appropriate boot option in BIOS to be enabled.

I'll look at those two options, Some people have tried poweriso and said it works so I'll try that as well.
