X200 not sleeping on Lid Close?

#1 Post by Geartooth » Sat Mar 17, 2018 11:11 pm

My X200 has recently stopped sleeping when it's lid is closed. Sleep is still possible with FN-F4.

Double-check (in the Power Options) that it's actually still configured to sleep on lid close.

If it is - it's possible that the lid close detection mechanism broke. Does it at least turn the screen off when you close the lid (you can check by slowly bringing the lid to an almost-closed state. At around 1cm it should trigger it.

I can close it until the latch triggers and the screen doesn't sleep.

So I guess that the mechanism is broken. I think it's a pair of magnets... and something else? There should be threads here on what to check / replace, I would spend some time searching the forum (personally never had to deal with it, so I don't know).
