x220 i bought a bluetooth 4.0 daughter card. while installing software update 'no bluetooth device was detected' error
i bought an X220 Bluetooth 4.0 Daughter Card (60Y3303 60Y3305). took the palm rest off and swapped it with the older version. now my laptop can't see it and i cant work out why?!
i downloaded the g4wb12ww update which others used to get Bluetooth 4.0 running, but when i try to run it i just get an error that bluetooth wasn't found on my laptop. has anyone ere upgraded theirs and can give some advice?

Try installing the "Lenovo hotkey features integration" software. Apparently the software turns power ON and OFF power to the bluetooth card. Without the software the bluetooth card is never on, and thereby not found by the device manager.

Bluetooth is disabled by default. You can activate Bluetooth by pressing Fn + F5. Pressing FN+F5 will bring up an onscreen menu and you can activate Bluetooth there. If you want your laptop to be seen by other devices you can set it to searchable thru Control Panel.

And if that doesn't work, follow my advice above to install the "Lenovo hotkey features integration" software. Weirdly, unlike most plug and play devices, the bluetooth card may not get power until the software turns it on.

I pretty much agree with the above, but if you still have problems maybe the following will help.
This is what worked for me some years ago...
