x220 bluetooth 4.0 daughter card upgrade FRU: 60Y3303 60Y3305

i pulled off the palm rest and switched the daughter card. its simple, i can't image anyone making a mistake with this step.

turned the laptop back on, hoping it'd automatically update the drivers.

nope.

so i tried SDI Driver Updating tool

nope.

i hunted around on forums like this one until i found someone who got theirs working with the Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) update, here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/gb/en/downloads/ds013631

while installing this i got a 'no bluetooth device was detected' error message.

..have i missed a step? is the daughter card a dud?

(windows 7 64 bit)

1. Check the BIOS settings, see if the Bluetooth is enabled there.
2. Pull out the Bluetooth card, look for signs of corrosion on the connectors
3. Check Device Manager for any "Unknown Devices" Check the "Device ID" or "Hardware ID", it should be a USB device.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons

Bluetooth is disabled by default. You can activate Bluetooth by pressing Fn + F5. Pressing FN+F5 will bring up an onscreen menu and you can activate Bluetooth there. If you want your laptop to be seen by other devices you can set it to searchable thru Control Panel.

Does the device show up in Device Manager (press Win-X, then M)?

The IDs are 0A5C:21E6, at least with the BCM20702 variant I have.
