x220t fhd mod?

#1 Post by TheForgottenKing » Fri Apr 13, 2018 11:46 am

I can think about two ways of doing this, one easier than the other

First way would be a nitrocaster mod combined with a fhd digitizer, but I cannot for the life of me find a compatable screen

Second way: modify the screen and attach this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XK5A502 to the top of the laptop and go from there

Any ideas? My x220t has ghosting so I want to get to work on this if possible

IIRC Nitrocaster's FHD kit won't fit in an X220T.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch

I have read that it works but with traditional displays, no touch capabilities

On the very first post on Nitrocaster's thread https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.p ... 40#p792251, there's this part:
Q: Does this mod support X220T/X230T?
A: No. It's technically possible to design special version of the adapter board that would fit in tablet, but then you'll need to replace the screen. Which, again, is technically possible, but not really doable.
I don't know if the circumstances have changed since then.

What a shame

What is the max resolution for single channel LVDS? And is the x220t single channel? I would presume so

A single-channel LVDS cable has just enough bandwidth to support 1366x768 @60Hz.

Yes it is.

The highest resolution I've seen on a single-channel LVDS is 1400x1050 on the X60T/X61T. Also notable is the 1440x900 screen on the X200.

Yes but we are talking about X220 / X230.

You will not fit a T60/T61 panel in X220 / X230 shell.

I don't know where you got the T60/61, but I specifically mentioned X60T/61T, AKA X60 / X61 Tablet.

But you're right, it won't fit in the X220 chassis.

I was under the impression that the question was about single-channel LVDS in general, and not specific to the X220/230 family.

I might look into fitting a 1400x1050 or 1400x900 screen into the x220t, it would take a modification to the case but who cares :D

Anyone got any touchscreen displays for sale?

1440x900 will fit without an issue, it is much 0.4" smaller and should work just fine as long as the pins match. The 1400x1050 is RARE as all get out and would require a HUGE HUGE HUGE overhaul. Don't do that. :BAAAD!:

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

True, and the x61t is only 1024x768

Now the problem is I want touch functionality. Is there any screen with 1440x900 touch?
