x220 temps in wine

#1 Post by bit188 » Sat May 05, 2018 8:25 pm

Hello,

I have an x220 running Arch Linux and I am trying to play Final Fantasy XI (2005-era game) in wine. The problem is the temps shoot up to 90-95 pretty quick. I have had this problem on both the t420 machines I own as well. I read this is normal load temp, but is it safe to run this hot for extended periods or not? It makes me a bit nervous.

Try disabling the processor's Turbo Boost.
