How do I enable 5ghz WiFi on X220?

#1 Post by StarGehzer » Sun May 06, 2018 5:40 pm

X220, Windows 7 pro.

According to Device Manager I have the Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN WiFi card. Is it capable of connecting to 5ghz?
My current driver, version, 14.3.0.6 is dated, 2011-10-27.
I've been unable to find a newer driver.
If this card is NOT 5ghz capable, is there a different card available?
Thanks for any helps.

Based from Intel's product page it's 2.4GHz only.

You can replace it with :

Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 (2x2 AGN) FRU 60Y3253

Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 FRU 60Y3233
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons

Or put in McDonnell's modded BIOS and put in the Intel AC7260 wifi card.
That also includes BT4.0

Or the Azurewave CE-123H, also with the BIOS update, which is a Broadcom card.
