Thinkpad X220 Screen Problems

#1 Post by ThnkpadsAreTheBest » Sat Jun 30, 2018 1:41 pm

Greetings everyone,

I have been experiencing problems with my Thinkpad X220 screen. I started off with the stock screen, however, issues with distorted pixels on the left hand side of the screen forced me to order a new IPS screen from laptopscreens.com. After one week of using the new screen, I started having problems again. This time however, the issue with distorted pixels was in the center of the screen.

I really love this laptop, but I hate how it randomly starts having issues with pixelation (sample picture below): Any ideas on what the probable cause could be?

Please tell us exactly which screen you received (make and model).

This is not exact enough. There are different FRUs, and panel models. Everest/Aida64 will show you the exact panel type.

In any case, could it be a problem with the LCD cable? I recall it's not part of the LCD assembly.

FRU: 04W3919 it is the LG display. I am not sure what else you need. The original monitor and the replacement are exactly the same.

This is generally enough. It means it's a LP125WH2(SL)(B3).

In any case, I would investigate the cable as a possible cause of problems.
