Replacing a LP125WH2 (SL)(B1) with a LP125WH2 (SL)(B3) on an X220 Tablet

#1 Post by Agnu » Tue Jul 10, 2018 6:52 pm

Hello!

I'm replacing the screen on my X220t. It has a LP125WH2 (SL)(B1) installed but I ended up getting a LP125WH2 (SL)(B3) because I didn't actually check the part number first. Oops.

I've disassembled the screen housing and detatched the screen from the front bezel/screen cover and I see that there is a ribbon coming out of the back of the front bezel and attaching to a series of board taped to the screen and then also connected by a cable to the rest of the computer.

The B3 screen I bought doesn't have these boards on the back or anywhere to connect the bezel ribbon or the second cable.

Am I going to be ok just connecting the main cable/ribbon or will I need to purchase the correct screen?

I can edit in a link to some images if need be, just don't want to have an auto-display script go and have me in violation of the image warning rule.

It seems like you bought the bare LCD panel, as used in the regular X220 and X230. The Tablet versions have a digitizer for pen and touch capability.

I don't know if it's possible to transplant the parts from the X220T screen that you already have.

Is there a resource somewhere that details each screen and their configurations?

None that I know of.
