Hello,
I have recently change my defective X230 motherboard with a functional X220 motherboard. However I didn't notice that the X220 use a different keyboard that the X230, so my keyboard isn't recognized fully. So I'd like to know if it's possible to have a modded X220 BIOS which can support the X230 keyboard. Here's some important info :
- Motherboard Manufacturer and Model : Lenovo ThinkPad X220
- Bios Revision : 8DET61WW (1.31) from 2012-04-25
Furthermore, do I need to first update my BIOS to the latest version and then update to the modded BIOS, or I can update directly to the modded BIOS ?
Thanks a lot

[BIOS MOD] X230 keyboard on X220 system
Re: [BIOS MOD] X230 keyboard on X220 system
Not really. The other way is possible, because that's what most people cared about, so some folks went through the trouble of creating an embedded controller (EC) patch. I seem to recall that the EC region in the X230 is more protected against modification, so even if someone wanted to write a similar reverse patch, it would not be easy.
If you are fine with the X220, just get an X220 keyboard. They should be abundant and not expensive.

Re: [BIOS MOD] X230 keyboard on X220 system
OK, the first problem is that I need to buy the keyboard + palmrest (need to spend money again) and secondly the owner (it's not my laptop) prefer the new thinkpad keyboard style (yeah strange I know).
But I'll leave the x230 keyboard as it and if really the owner doesn't like that, I'll buy x220 keyboard + palmrest.
Thanks
