[Solved] X200s graphics driver in Windows 10 (Intel GMA 4500MHD)
Hi everyone,
This forum helped me immensely in getting my X200s trackpoint working in Windows 10 (thanks to pgoels: viewtopic.php?t=119692). I thought I would return the favour by posting my experience in getting the graphics card working. It can be done but the solution was very hard to find! Hopefully this hasn't already been posted here.
The card in my X200s is an integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD (a.k.a Intel X4500), but this should work for some other Intel chips too. As of 2018, it seems that Intel is no longer supporting this card and there is no official driver available for Windows 10 on the Intel website. The generic driver provided by Windows does not support hardware 3D acceleration despite the card having OpenGL 2.1 capabilities.
Trying to hack the Windows 7 drivers to work in Windows 10 was ultimately a dead end, but eventually after a lot of digging around the internet I managed to find an enthusiast who has done just that, and it is working a treat - no problems so far. The author's webpage is at: http://worldintelmoddriver.blogspot.com ... x4500.html. They have drivers for other Intel chipsets but I haven't tried any of them.
To install it I had to first disable Microsoft signature checking. This was my process:
1. Run command prompt as administrator and type the following 2 commands:
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON
2. Restart computer
3. Download the driver from the link above & install it
4. Re-enable signature checking:
bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF
Now you should have OpenGL 2.1 3D acceleration working in Windows 10!

Thanks will try this later

I wonder what exactly he changed, but the fact that it works without manually disabling signature checks every time suggests to me that the change in the .inf only. In this case, it should be possible to apply the same changes to different versions of the drivers as well. I recall doing something similar (just changing the target version from Win7 to Win10) in the Intel GPU driver for the T410.
Thinkpad 25 (20K7), T490 (20N3), Yoga 14 (20FY), T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X220 4291-4BG
X61 7673-V2V, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G, X32 (IPS Screen), A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad

Yes it would be great to figure out how to modify Windows 7 .inf's to work on Windows 10. It's probably simple enough because the OS's are very similar under the hood

You can try the instructions here:
https://www.getdriver.com/how-to/2410/m ... dding.html
Except for Win10, you'll need to use 10.0 suffix instead of 6.3.

Re: [Solved] X200s graphics driver in Windows 10 (Intel GMA 4500MHD)
Hi!
I have a x200s with Win10 on board. Tried this instruction but as soon as I disable Testsigning drivers won't work anymore and Windows downloads back stock drivers. I also tried to turn off installing drivers by Windows Update for GPU through gpedit.msc but no luck.
I also found something else:
"NOTE: To remove test mode, just run CMD and type [ bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF] then reboot. BUT THIS DRIVER WON'T WORK IF YOU DO THIS. So you are probably stuck in test mode ...... If you are okay with this then you can remove the watermarks which you see on the bottom right of your screen by using a watermark remover program. "
Why is here instruction to turn it off then? I am doing something wrong?
EDIT:
This doesn't work either:

Installed but after reboot OpenGL version is still 1.1.
