x200 needs 10 minutes to boot, then runs fine.
x200 needs 10 minutes to boot, then runs fine.
After pressing the on button, my x200 only shows the status LED (right to left) AC power, battery, power und bluetooth continuosly in green.
The fan also goes on when needed. The network socket doesn't show any LED.
Afer about 10 minutes it starts up as usual. No problems thereafter.
Any ideas what causes this and how to solve it?I am on Windows 10 (64 Bit). The last Windows Update is KB4462918 (08. Nov 2018).
I tried the following:
* hold down power long (also very long... )
* start on battery / AC only
* any combination with the docking station
* USB sockets get power
* HDD change
* change RAM, take out RAM
* take of the mainboard battery (still has a voltage of 3.2V)
* take out the bluetooth module (though it might have something to do with the problem; but it didn't change anything... except for the bluetooth LED which was no longer lit)
Thanks for any help!

Replace HDD with SSD.
Dump W10 and go back to W7 or Linux.

Re: x200 needs 10 minutes to boot, then runs fine.
Is the 10 minute delay
- Before or after the ThinkPad splash screen?
- Before or after the Windows logo?
Either of these suggests very different things. A delayed ThinkPad splash screen sounds like something is delaying your POST. Try resetting BIOS settings, trying it with each removable component removed one by one (Modem, WWAN, WLAN, Turbo mem?) or replace your motherboard.
A delay in Windows starting just means your Windows needs replacing as RBS says.

I have a SSD.
Windows 10 has been running smoothly for years.
The wait is before everything. Before any BIOS values. Absolutely the first thing it does.
I am not aware of any Firmware Update to the BIOS. Is there any way I could find out if there was one?

Re: x200 needs 10 minutes to boot, then runs fine.
My X201 developed a malfunctioning Intel ME that would delay its POST for several minutes and once booted the machine would be crippled, overheating and some functions not working. The "NVRAM" error is common on X201 and other Arrandales. The only "fix" is to replace the motherboard, which isn't really a fix per se.
If it's a Lenovo BIOS function that is causing the problem, perhaps flashing Libreboot on your X200 may fix it since that's a completely different and open source BIOS.

Re: x200 needs 10 minutes to boot, then runs fine.
The X200 is a VPRO chipset so it has Intel AMT and ME version 4. In your Bios you should have Intel AMT disabled under Config. Also check your time out setting.
Edit - The security chip should also be disabled under Security. Only the Anti-Theft can be permanently disabled.
I think the only way to totally remove Intel ME is by building a coreboot rom.
edit - If that doesn't work then I found this interesting blog regarding a 10 minute boot up delay on a X200 tablet.

Re: x200 needs 10 minutes to boot, then runs fine.
It was some Windows Update that messed with the BIOS which then needed somekind of update. Now my x200 boots as quick as new.

You mean you had to flash a BIOS update to fix it?
