Bluetooth speaker not properly detected in X220.

#1 Post by anali » Sat Feb 16, 2019 8:10 am

Hello I have X220 for a year now and last week I bought a Bose SoundLink bluetooth speaker and I'm trying to connect it to my laptop via bluetooth. But my problem is the laptop doesn't recognize the Bose SoundLink as a speaker but "other device" is there a way to solve this? I updated the drivers but still no luck making it to work.

Thank you.

Trying to get any xx30 or earlier machine to connect to anything bluetooth with the internal bluetooth chip is hopeless. Just get a little bluetooth dongle and use that.

You can try what I did and dowload the older Bluetooth stack for Windows from Toshiba.

The required codec for stereo audio bluetooth is not native to Windows 7.

Have you installed the Bluetooth drivers (the 100MB+ one)?
Daily driver: X220 4291-C91 i7-2620M

Backup: X601 Core 2 Duo T8100
Toy: X60F Core Solo U1300
On loan: X220 4291-P79 i5-2520M
In pieces: two retired but working X61Ts
RIP: 760XD 9546-U9E; X61 7676-A24; and a BOE-Hydis HV121P01-100 in failed SXGA+ mod

Did you solve it? Had a similar problem this is how I solve mine.
  • Go to: Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers.
  • Right click your device and click "Properties".
  • Then click the "Hardware" tab, You'll see a list of bluetooth drivers installed.
  • Check all those drivers and remove the bluetooth device that might interfere on other. Then reconnect, this is how I solved when I'm having trouble connecting my bluetooth speaker jbl and aomais speaker.
  • Or try to remove all the bluetooth drivers and allow windows to find it.

Hope it helps.
