Palmrest touchpad X220
Palmrest touchpad X220
Hi all
Received this week an X220i when I ordered a X220 (quite a bummer). The palmrest was also damaged, the part under the touchpad. I just ordered a palmrest replacement part from a chinese ebay seller. This part comes without the touchpad attached to it. I was looking online for info, but didnt find any concrete explanation on how to remove the touchpad from my damaged palmrest and how to fit it in the newly ordered palmrest. Is it complicated to remove the touchpad from the palmrest? Never did before, always removed the full palmrest. I bought this laptop for my girlfriend, I hope the poor i3 cpu wont be too slow for her These untrusty sellers hiding hardware specs... uff

I sadly bought from a local auction site which does not have such buyers protection in place, I guess lessons learned for the future. will put some love with the usual upgrades (ram/ssd) in this X220i and see going forward if I can buy an affordable i7 motherboard to unleash the beasty power but these i7 boards seem very pricy... uff

Re: Palmrest touchpad X220
Or get an X230 board.
To be fair, the X220i i3 isn't that far off the i5's performance. It's still a dual-core CPU with Hyperthreading/SMT like the i5, with a respectable 2.1GHz clock speed (compared to the 2.5GHz i5 2520M). Unless it's the ULV Core i3, which is only 1.4GHz.
