Fingerprint scanner

#1 Post by jono_1uk » Wed Oct 23, 2019 2:57 pm

So I got my X201t with win10 loaded but can't for the life of me get the fingerprint scanner set up.
It keeps saying it has an issue reading after trying to scan
The light goes red when scanning
Have cleaned it carefully
I have read somewhere that it doesn't work win Admin account..this correct?

You will need to check the device manager to find out what FPR you have.

Find the driver for that, and then, find out if you need a GUI for it. The driver does NOT always include the GUI to actually be able to load fingerprints to the reader.

right

so i have managed to get it working by binning off all the other drivers and installing the thinkvantage fingerprint drivers
It will now long on using my print but wont power up using it even though it has been selected to do so and the green scanner light is on even
when laptop is powered off.
am i asking to much for this to work with Win 10 ?

W10 does not support laptops of X201t vintage.
You got to learn to live with that.
Alternatively, go back to W7/W8.1 or Linux if you don't want any destructive/intrusive behaviour, like you're getting from W10.

Glad you got it working. I would back up those drivers just in case.

I bought a T510 from an eBay seller that had loaded Win 10 Pro to the machine. Everything worked except the FPR. It took several days to sort that out but it is working and has been ever since I fixed it.

I will try to find the thread I created telling this tale.

Here is the thread. It is the same FPR that you have in your system.

Thank you

It may break again soon as I am updating my Windows 10 to the latest version.
Logic says it should still work as the think vantage stuff isn't upgrading but who knows
MijkaIE did yours work on the latest Win10 build?

Morning All

so after the latest update to the latest version of WIN 10 the scanner works unlocking the machine but not switching it on.
it seems to do this better with the latest upgrade using the thinkvantage software
I couldnt find any windows touchpad drivers that worked at all ..for me the vantage ones work best.
slightly annoying that i did get it to boot up from the scanner for some time yesterday ..but it then stopped doing this before
i did the upgrade last night.
no biggie but if anyone know of a fix ( that wont break the other bit)
