X230 Windows 8.1 Fingerprint driver - is HERE !

#1 Post by kokein » Mon Mar 09, 2020 1:45 pm

HI :)

For several days I have tried to run the finger reader on a clean Win8.1 x64 installation on my ThinPad X230 model. It was a nightmare :D
There are many instructions on the network, but only the last method I just found works.

The main "problem" was the Windows prompt that the Framework was inactive (etc). Which gave further problems with the drivers. I probably did 3x reinstallations before I got to the right version.

So I'm sharing - it may be useful to someone, Link: http://tiny.cc/t471kz

This should also work with other series (T440 etc.)

Currently having the same problem with 8.1 on an X230- driver refuses to install due to the Biometric Framework being disabled, not to mention the driver pulled from Windows Update does not let me enroll fingerprints.

Curious what you did to get it working, that URL is unfortunately dead, not finding that many specific results on Google.

Do you try to enable it via BIOS?
X220 with Win 10 21H2 Fedora 38 XFCE 4.18 (official spins)
i7-2640m, disabled Hyper Thread, Temp Drop on average 10*C, all core activated, need KVM for Windows
12gb RAM (enough for now, DDR3L)
480 Kingston Fake SSD
64gb Samsung SD Card
Recently rolled back to Windows 7 from Win 10 21H2. Sad

The link that you posted leads to a phishing site:

http://tiny.cc/t471kz

I hope that isn't what you intended. Could you possibly post a link that leads to the driver instead?

Yes, it's fully enabled in the BIOS.
