SSD caddy for X301

#1 Post by weezintrumpeteer » Sat Aug 15, 2020 11:03 pm

I'm interested in swapping out the stock 1.8 SSD for an mSATA via an adapter.

Being that the sizing is different, is there any good solution to making the drive fit snugly and correctly within the bay?

Use e.g. an old credit card, cut it in the width of the drivebay and tape the adapter (and a pullout) onto it.
Looks like what I did here: viewtopic.php?p=829120#p829120

Wow, that looks like it will work pretty well. Nice hack. I assume you just used electrical tape and wrapped it around the adapter? Images were a little small, I couldn't *quite* make out how it was situated.

Would something like this work and give the structure needed? It's more expensive, but seems like it might be good:

Thanks for the larger pics! Much appreciated. I've ordered a somewhat generic adapter from Amazon and will use your method - thanks!
