X220 vs X230 in 2022

I am deciding to give a successor to the X201 as long as X220 and X230 are still on the second-hand market.

Is a X220 at about 200 euros (with 8 gb and 128SSD) still a good deal or at the same price/specs I should go with an X230?

I am reading of the potential 16gb limit for the X220 (despite the declared 8gb).
Is this always true?

Are there any "big" difference I should take into account?

X230 has the new style keyboard, but the old style keyboard from X220 can be used with an EC patch.

X230 has slightly faster hardware but with native Win10 support, which X220 lacks (Win10 will work on an X220, but not all graphics features may be available)

The onboard DisplayPort (X220) vs mini-DisplayPort (X230) is a minor thing.

X230 has USB 3.0 across the board; X220 only has it on the Core i7 model.

If I recall correctly and I may not as it's been 10 years, the X220 with the i7 and therefore USB 3, tended to run hotter than other X220s. The 30 series is the last of the ThinkPad with the ThinkLight, which the 20 series has too. The biggest practical difference to me would be the keyboards.

Both X220 and X230 can take 2x8GB=16GB RAM.

Make sure you get one with the IPS LCD.

But, despite in the photos the screen looks like an IPS, the specs of the 4291TMH say it is not.

(just in case I could mess up when trying to install the new fan and the thermal paste on it)
