x201 / cleaning cpu fan

hello.
i am currently trying to clean my cpu ventilator, because it was doing really terrible noise.
the ventilator is not factory original, i have replaced it some 3 years ago and not longer after the replacement, the laptop was shelved and was not actively used until very recently, when i picked it up and found the problem with the noise.
so the fan is not very old in a sense it would be used much. i opened it, there was no dirt, but the connection between the fan blade and the "base unit" is rather loose and it did not take much force to take it apart. is that normal, or is that maybe sign of bad quality?
for now, i plan to just put some oil into it and see what happens, but i'd appreciate any suggestion.
