X200T - no boot with keyboard plugged in - help.

#1 Post by GloomySugar » Mon Nov 17, 2025 5:11 am

Hey Guys :)

First time posting on the forum, I've done some googling and looked through the forum so hopefully I've done my due dilligence before posting for help.

Fresh eBay purchase, sold as "lights up, wont boot", arrived with no drive or ram, ordered and installed 2x4gb SK sticks, tried booting, "lights up, wont boot"

Pulled the laptop down to reach the CMOS battery, plugged power in, booted into bios, 8gb of ram visable, shut down, plugged CMOS battery back in to test it will boot before re-assembling, booted into bios, shut down, re-assembled, "lights up, wont boot"

narrorwed it down to the keyboard, any time the keyboard is plugged in it will not boot, it wont light anything but the plugged in light, i even recklessly tried hot plugging the keyboard, it shut down instantly, hasn't appeared to damage anything.

Is this something anyone has encountered before?
Wanted to ask before blindly ordering a new keyboard, seems strange to have a keyboard with a short causing a no boot scenario.

 Thanks in advance for any and all replies.
