Ordered mine on 05/16 and just received an email a few days ago saying my order is delayed and that there's going to be a new estimated date. I checked today and they don't even have a estimated date now!
Must be the Intel 160GB SSD that's delaying my order. My X220 is going to be already out of date by the time I get it.
You know, with this delay, if I don't get the latest Intel SSD (320 series) along with a small refund (since the 320's cost considerably less than the X25's), I think I'm going to ask for a refund. I've already waited this long, why not wait until they get the 320's into the system, get the same capacity for a lot less and then just reorder it? Also, it'll give them time to fix the i7 throttling issue...
UPDATE: My new "estimated" ship date is now 07/29/11....wtf? I think I just might cancel my order.

Yes, the Intel SSD has moved the current shipping date to 7/29.
Although I did hear from another (may have been you) on another forum that although the website shipping estimate is 7/29 that there could be an earlier shipment.
I have also emailed my rep to check on it.

Just got another email saying my X220 is shipping today...man, they're all over the map with these ship dates.
I'll update once I get with which SSD they're sending me.

this is the 2nd x220 i have ordered, the first one had massive defects, screen was not connected, webcam, microphone were not functional.... sent it back as it seemed to be put together by an amateur.
My x61 is on its second fan, and thats starting to get more audible, but the machine has been used for 4 yrs, I cant complain.

I can see how many senior Thinkpadders are ordering the X220, this means an excellent machine has arrived to the market, I pressume this is the best ever produced ultraportable. Better build quality, better processing and energy stamina, better screen (welcome back IPS technology). Lenvo has managed to continue the IBM´s Ivy league.

So my X220 arrived yesterday 06/15. SSD is a Intel 160 G2. BIOS version is 1.15. I haven't tried to throttle lock it yet as I'm sure it'll have the same problem as everyone else. I'll just wait for the BIOS upgrade or the motherboard swap.
The trackpad does indeed SUCK. I hate the integrated buttons as I normally rest my thumb on the button and now, with this combined trackpad/button setup, it affects the trackings. I assuming it's picking up my thumb as an mouse movement input. The pad also has erratic movement. Not nearly as good as my X301 and that wasn't particularly spectacular or anything. I have tried both the 90W brick and the 65W brick and they work the same. I saw no difference in the trackpad movement. I'm gonna try both of the 90W Travel adapters (the older larger one and the newer smaller/lighter one). I've read that they cause erratic trackpad movement (to an already erratic trackpad...great....)
EDIT: Just tried the newer Slim Travel 90W adapter FRU 41R4510. DEFINITELY more erratic trackpad movement then with the 65W and 90W brick adapters. I'll try the older Travel 90W adapter next.
I think I'd be much happier if they just made a X302 with a i7/i5 processor and a high res IPS screen. The lack of a optical drive is more problematic than I thought. I went to install some software last night and had to image them first and then virtual drive it. How is the X301 LIGHTER with a optical drive??
On the bright side, the new fingerprint reader is MUCH better. The screen is fantastic (of course, I'm used the horrible X301 display) but the low resolution SUCKS. They should have offered a 1600x900 IPS screen option.
Debating on keeping this...

My X220 arrived on 23/06 two days ahead of schedule. It wonders me how fast shipment and delivery was that unit's manufacture date is of this same month! (June). Supply chain is working smoothly, kudos to Lenovo.
The notebook is just awesome and pretty. By far the best one I have had in the last 7 years. Build quality, IPS display, keyboard and performance are beyond my expectations, no matter what reviewers and forums contributors have said of good and bad on this machine. Just to say that on my passmark test records the first Thinkpad I had scored 241,3 points. ( T42 model: 23734wu. PM 735 1.7 ghz. 1GB 333 DDR1 ) and this beast hit the 1396.91 mark! Thats almost a 578% increase of power and performance!
This mean to me that contrary to much speculation Lenovo has not downgraded the original IBM's quality, on the contrary it has been faithful to the principles of the brand and continues to deliver excellent products. Congrats again Lenovo!

Just ordered an X220 to replace the X220 Tablet that I didn't like, and that was defective.
anyway, estimated ship date is rather ridiculous.. also because of the SSD most likely.. wish they sourced other SSDs.

Why not get it with the base drive, then upgrade it with whatever drive you wish? That's usually cheaper too.

I do not like digging in laptops, re-installing windows, etc... no time for that..
I've had one older Thinkpad T43 open to replace a CPU fan for about a month on my table.
I spoke to Lenovo, they said they'll ship next week, and it's a "glitch" in the system.
I would've considered "downgrading" to 128GB..
I am sure OS + Office + My Documents could fit.

That's an absolute insane delivery date netcomrade, as reported here there is a possibility Lenovo corrects it.

I ordered a customized nearly-maxed-out X220 on July 21. During the ordering process the estimated ship date was August 10. After submitting the order the ship date changed to August 18. Received notice on July 28 that it was shipped July 28 (LOL, not complaining). UPS scheduled delivery says August 1 by 10:30 am.
I chose the 320 GB hard drive option. (I see above the SSD option might have been a source of delay in the past.)
I chose the express (2-3 day) shipping option for an extra $25. I normally don't because the shipments get here in only a few days without it. But it's just $25 instead of the $50 I've seen in the past, and this time because of travel it would be a significant convenience to get it a couple of days earlier.
UPDATE August 1: Delivered on time. Seven days from order to shipping.

I just ordered one last night. During check-out it gave me Estimated Ship Date of 8/11/2011
I received my order confirmation e-mail, it is now showing Estimated Ship Date of 8/18/2011.
Here is my order & specs, and pricing:
I also included a rep ID during my order, some random rep who answered 1-2 questions when I chatted with him a few days ago. I figure, why not.. so i put a rep id.
Yesterday I e-mailed them about the delay, no reply so far.

I just ordered mine last Friday (September 16), and I already have it in my hands today! Unexpectedly fast.
So far I like it - I upgraded from an x61 tablet - except I have to say that the low resolution and the widescreen are bothering me. But I guess I'll have to get adjusted to that. A few more vertical pixels would have been nice though.

The single thing I missed was getting the Realtek rather than the Intel wifi -- definitely worth the extra 20 bucks for the Intel since I run linux and the drivers for the Realtek are a bit iffy yet.
So much fun having Backtrack on this on a partition, and being able to run that instance from inside vmware when I have Windows booted.
Overall, I'm delighted so far. I'm probably going to add onsite and computrace. And I'm drooling over the OCZ SSDs just announced - in a 7mm housing, so they'll fit, as far as I can tell.

I ordered an X220 from the outlet on 3/12/2012, and the estimated ship date is 3/16/2012.
I was hoping to get it sooner than if I'd purchased it new (it was considerably cheaper regardless), but what can ya do.
It's got the following specs:
Core i7
8GB RAM
160GB Intel SSD (I was going to just get a regular HDD and put an mSATA SSD in there as well but I can hold off since the unit was so cheap

)
IPS display
No Bluetooth and I think it has the base WiFi, and it has the 6-cell battery but from what I hear it should be quite adequate. If not I can always buy another. Or the slice battery...
Can't wait to get it! I was disappointed in the slow ship date since the laptop should just be waiting in a warehouse for shipment, but what can ya do. I heard some horror stories about the Outlet, so I hope I don't end up like one of them, lol.
