X300 speed vs. X61 Tablet

#1 Post by jamess » Thu Feb 28, 2008 3:38 am

I am 5 minutes away from ordering the X300. I am a business user with mainly office documents, occasional Photoshop and Illustrator ...

My X61 Tablet with 1.6 C2D handled these tasks O.K. with 2 GB RAM and 7K200 Hitachi. I now intend to have 3 GB ram, but X300 only comes with 1.2 GHz processor and with 64 GB SSD.

My question is - how would you rate X300 speed vs. X61 Tablet?
X300 is: much slower, slower, about the same, faster?

Any thoughts on these would be much appreciated...

You can set your X61t to 1.2ghz (using RMClock or such) and find out. I believe the SSD is pretty fast so you just have to worry about space restrictions there.

Thanks for this hint, but I'd prefer someone more experienced than me to tell me his thought without me joking around too much with my hardwear :) Thanks anyways!

I've seen that all of my documents (without photos, videos, downloads etc) takes about 10 GB, which I all that's accumulated in a few years time. That's why 64 Gb is no concern for me. Photos and videos are stored on a windows home server on multiple drives and should I need them urgently, I can access it/them from anywhere.

Cheers
