Nice review. Thanks. I might try an x300 for my office work with electronic records where we carry a laptop into each room. The small size (small exam rooms :-( ) will be nice as well as the bright screen. I find the WUXGA screen on my T61p not as bright as I would like, whereas the IPS 1600x1200 screen on my R50p is fine.
First Thinkpad 755CX in 1995. First IBM: PC 1982 8088 w 64K RAM, dual floppy. Currently in use:
X230T with Win8Pro x64, i7, 500gb ssd; W700 WUXGA RAID 1 Blu-Ray W7Pro x64, occasionally a T61p with Win7Pro x64

Thanks for the review! I'm very interested in the actual battery life part. I wonder how much time you can get for surfing the net and doing basic office applications. Given by your experience in the review, I guess it'd be something like 5 hours? (1 hr video = 2 hrs light applications?)

Regards,
Tony

hello, thanks for the review.

I see you also have X series laptops, how do they compare in general (your personal preferences etc) and how do the physical vertical screenheights compare? I don't like widescreen but if it isn't too short in comparison then it isn't so bad as it could be.

Hi,
Battery life in general use I would go with 4hrs. Not actually ran mine to the ground yet, but turn it from from a full charge and I dont feel the need to plug in it during my evening and it sleeps a bit, I surf maybe download some things in the background etc.

As for comparisions to the other X series laptops. My X60 Tablet is very square and I dont like the height of the LCD, not sure why just looks odd.
X61 I would say its just slightly wider and a bit taller but looks in aspect when side by side. When I used a 12" with 1024x768 I found that quck use emails etc were fine, but if I needed to work from home for a day the small resolution would be a killer as many of my corporate apps etc dont like the low res and means lots of scrolling etc.
I then used the T61 14.1" with the 1440x900 and this was much better for everyday use, but weight and size was the compromise.
With the X300 I am feeling right now that I am getting the best of both worlds.

Hope this helps, I will put some pics up tomorrow night of my X300 side by side with my macbook (edit: and an X31 as I have one kicking about at home). then on Monday I can get some with a T61/X61 and X60T for comparison.
