Gaming on the X300

Hi this will be a quick update.

Older titles seem to work great, I have ran Dawn of war with no issues (yes low settings for details etc but speed is good and playable.)

Far Cry the original game works well on low settings very playable but missing some of the bling a good gfx card would bring.

Then I went for Half Life 2 episode 2! ………. er nope. Even on the lowest settings the main menu was painfully slow and the game totally unplayable.

So in conclusion if you are a casual gamer and want something to amuse you on a trip then a good quality older title will do just fine. Forget anything in past 2 years.

Had to try :)

How much RAM is in your system and how much is devoted to the integrated graphics adapter?

Also, are you running Vista or XP? I thought I recalled in another post you running Vista, but wanted to be sure. FWIW, I plan to reload my system with XP Pro (primarily for work) and run similar test.

Is there any chance you can try counterstrike source for me if you own it? I would be eternally grateful....

the idea is mobilty - small, lightweight and long battery life. A nvidia card in that would kill off the batt in 45mins. lol. so it only comes with the intel graphics just like all the other x series.

What I don't understand is how the LG p300 has a 2.4ghz penryn, a mechanical hard drive, and a Nvidia 8600GS with 256mb of memory and gets the same amount of battery life as the X300 (4 hours real world usage on the 6 cell LG).

Hi,
Acording to the Intel app I have a maximum of 358MB gfx memory.
I am running Vista 32 bit with SP1 with 3GB Ram.
My T61 has the NVidia NVS140 and the runs HalfLife 2 really well with low details.
But as pointed out this kills the battery life in daily use. My T61 with stock battery gets about 1.5hrs and even with extended battery and bay battery added it only manages 3.5-4.

I think I saw the counterstrike in my Steam list so I will give it a go tonight.
