2CDNEH: Did you purchase MC8775 or MC8755?

Zender, a forum member, discovered that the X300 Bios only permits MC8775: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... &start=120

If thats true, then the Service Manual is incorrect when detailing the (discontinued) MC8755. Furthermore, the online service parts lookup for X300 shows MC8775, in contrary to the Serice Manual.

FWIW I will be announcing a Cingular standard model in a few weeks as there has been a large demand for one recently. In the mean time, you can certainly build one with Cingular via the CTO site.

Hi,

I just install MC8780 (definitely unlocked, got it directly from Fujitsu-Siemens) in my new X300, and following message:
-----
ERROR
1804: Unathorized WAN card is plugged in - Power off and remove the WAN card.
-----

It looks like a modified BIOS is needed?
Can anybody help me?

Brgds,
Alexander

Try looking at this thread about Zender's modified BIOS for the 1802/1804 errors or tape out pin 20 on the card (info in thread)

BTW I modded Sierra Wireless' Generic Driver to also work with Lenovo Cards (This one is most recent, Lenovos original driver is rather old!): http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... highlight=
