2CDNEH: Did you purchase MC8775 or MC8755?
Zender, a forum member, discovered that the X300 Bios only permits MC8775:

If thats true, then the Service Manual is incorrect when detailing the (discontinued) MC8755. Furthermore, the online service parts lookup for X300 shows MC8775, in contrary to the Serice Manual.

FWIW I will be announcing a Cingular standard model in a few weeks as there has been a large demand for one recently. In the mean time, you can certainly build one with Cingular via the CTO site.

Hi,
I just install MC8780 (definitely unlocked, got it directly from Fujitsu-Siemens) in my new X300, and following message:

ERROR
1804: Unathorized WAN card is plugged in - Power off and remove the WAN card.

It looks like a modified BIOS is needed?
Can anybody help me?

Try looking at this thread about Zender's modified BIOS for the 1802/1804 errors or tape out pin 20 on the card (info in thread)

BTW I modded Sierra Wireless' Generic Driver to also work with Lenovo Cards (This one is most recent, Lenovos original driver is rather old!):
