several points about design of the x300.

several points about design of the x300.

First of all, red strips with thinkpad log? wow! I think they are UGLY!!
it was only good when it was coupled with IBM signature, in my humble opinion.

nothing against with lenovo, but they do not match because thinkpad signature gives stronger looking and red and blue don’t come along with it.

Also, about the lcd and touchpad. wow! the bottom space of lcd is UGLY and HUGE !! what a waste of space! good job lenovo with allocating the lcd screen! of course, i guess there is a tech issue for lcd w camera, but still, i would've much appreciated with smaller in area size with a bit thicker width. who's more important? us? or mac air-wanna be users???

and touchpad, who said we need the touchpad? if lenovo were smart and caring enough to hear the red-blue strip complaints, they should’ve know that for x series users, we do NOT need touchpad. Lenovo should’ve made it without and make it smaller or have other stuff, such as sd card.

THINK!!! lenovo

Touchpad in the x300 (or in general tps) sucks anyway compared to other companies’ product. if you gonna make it, make it right!

Also, the edges of the lcd is HUGE!!!
wow, who will think this is a 13.3 inch laptop?? compare with t series, you can’t even tell the difference except for the thinness.
and who would’ve thought this was the X series?? they are so huge! (in empty space wise, such as with lcd edges, touchpad, …etc)

yeah i get to meet x300 user today.
it was bit bigger than i thought.
but definitely thinner.

I agree that it's a great laptop.
i liked the idea of putting battery location in front rather than in the back, and long battery life and led lights are great.
using ssd is great.

it's just more and more i see it, i think they should've say this was t series, instead of x series.

hopefully later, regrouping of size of laptop wiill occur.

R series:15 inch
T series:13-14
X esries: 11-12
that's my hope

Ive gotta agree on the lcd bezel, i posted the same thing in another thread but man it sux. I know its probably required with all the antennas and the camera but it will definitely take a little while to get used to.

i can live with the wide display bezel..
what i really would like to see is an optional IPS (flexview) display..
WSXGA+..
not 900 pix vertical but 1050 pix vertical..
if there is a call for such i think lenovo will make it happen..
but it MUST be profitable so there will need to be a large audience for such a display..

I'm guessing that's a pretty small market though I suppose if you're already dropping that kind of money on a notebook you probably don't mind the added cost.

The bezel doesn't bother me at all. I think the design lends to the ruggedness of the laptop. I only wish that the LCD was as nice as the one on the Sony SZ series and at the same time was as efficient as the current X300 LCD.

Do you mean "us", or "me"?

I'm fairly sure they've done a lot more market research and consideration bringing out the X300 than you did.

Please you are not speaking for all of us.

I like the touch-pad and never use the red thing. It get in the way. Maybe they should get rid of it!

i like the touchpad also and it doesn't make us "non-ibm" techies or whatever :) The Touchpad works great as was as the TouchPoint, i have used both but just rather the touchpad for lazy browsing. It's far up when i'm using the laptop laying in bed and i am faster with it. Other might like the stick but that's them :)

As for the X300, i'd like to see one too. I am as of lately warming up to 14.1" T61s but i just wish i could get one with a WSXGA+ as someone said above. WXGA+ is better than WXGA as i see my GF using but i wouldn't want it for myself.

If the bezel was thinner on the sides i wouldn't have much of an issue with it too as the top is ok for the built in webcam... my GF would love that i'm sure. Still trying to persuade her to let me get her a Z series instead of another crappy huge Dell Inspiron like her last one. It fell apart and has lots of worn parts in less than 1 year of usage. When i told her my T60 (same age as hers) still has warranty till 2010 she was surprised by that and seemed to be enticed by that. Thinking if her current machine was a IBM they would have replaced the motherboard to fix her charging AC adapter issues as well as she could get a new LCD and palmrest and keyboard.

To the OP - Hey, where in VA are you, i'd like to take a look at that x300 :) I still want to see one in person also :D

hey guys, please understand that this is only my opinion, and i didn't say that i was speaking for all of you.

and i see that most of you guys are t series users, so the touchpad is probably not new to u guys.

As i said, i think it should've been t -series not x series.
it seems lenovo targeted business people, and for most coporate business people i've seen they were using t-series instead of x-series, but still it's x300, not t300.

personally i would like to see 11 inch x series coming out without the odd. (one looks like s30)
:D

again, it's just my opinion, and saying 'we' a lot is just way of writing in asia.
