International Warranty?

#1 Post by tirant » Sat Mar 29, 2008 12:43 pm

I want to buy a new Thinkpad in the USA. Does lenovo have an international warranty policy? 1-year, 3-years?

Thanks.

Here's what Mark_Lenovo had to say about this:

I just posted a message to the Lenovo Forums in hopes that someone from Lenovo will provide a resonable explanation:

http://forum.lenovo.com/lnv/board/messa ... ead.id=854

based on...
http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bi ... anguage=en

and

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-69319

it should be covered...?

@nonny
@tirant

Those links seem to be broken.

My understanding is that if Lenovo thinks you imported the machine from the US they won't honor the warranty. Something to that effect is buried in the terms and conditions.

(This didn't use to be the case, apparently.)

If you are travelling or move, however, that's a different story.

Lenovo lies about International warranty!

#7 Post by ThinkPadZ61t » Thu May 15, 2008 9:54 am

It does not matter either Lenovo claims to provide the international warranty since they fail to provide it de facto!

They refused to service my laptop while in China, check my story here:

I sent you a PM when I activated your account to let you know that while you were welcome to post here about your problem and discuss it, you could not dig up every warranty thread like you did at NBR and post the same thing. Unfortunately, you did not read the PM.

Productive discussion is welcome on TPF. Mission posting is not.
